
Fluidra’s looking for an Engineering Maintenance Technician to join our team in Carlsbad, CA.
Internal Job Title: Lab Technician III
WHAT YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE
Working as part of a collaborative R&D team, Lab Technician III will play an important role in keeping Fluidra's engineering laboratories, test equipment, and test fixtures safe, functional, organized, and ready for use.
This is a highly hands-on role requiring strong mechanical aptitude, practical troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work across a variety of trades and technical disciplines. The ideal candidate is a versatile, self-sufficient problem solver who is comfortable repairing equipment, building and modifying test fixtures, performing basic electrical and plumbing work, and using a wide range of hand and power tools.
The Lab Technician III will provide hands-on support to Lab Engineers and Lab Test Technicians while taking ownership of routine maintenance and repair needs throughout the laboratory. Responsibilities include:
- Assist with the setup, modification, repair, teardown, and maintenance of test fixtures and laboratory equipment. – 35%
- Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical, mechanical, and electromechanical equipment used throughout the R&D laboratory. – 20%
- Disassemble, recycle, and properly dispose of obsolete or discarded products, test fixtures, and equipment. – 15%
- Provide hands-on support to Test Engineers and Technicians during product validation testing and other laboratory activities as needed. – 15%
- Use Microsoft Office applications and other tools to document repairs, maintenance records, equipment status, and related activities. – 5%
- Help maintain a clean, safe, and organized laboratory environment in accordance with 5S standards. – 5%
- Assist the engineering team with packaging, handling, and shipping product prototypes, samples, and equipment. – 5%
WHAT WE SEEK
- Strong mechanical aptitude and demonstrated ability to troubleshoot, repair, build, and modify equipment in a hands-on technical environment.
- Broad maintenance and fabrication skills with the versatility to work across mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and general construction tasks.
- Comfortable working with 120V/240V electrical equipment, including basic electrical wiring, outlets, circuits, and related components.
- Proficient with common hand and power tools, including drills, saws, grinders, wrenches, screwdrivers, and similar equipment.
- Comfortable building and modifying test rigs, fixtures, equipment supports, and other structures using materials and systems such as Unistrut, lumber, metal, piping, and common hardware.
- Willingness and ability to perform a wide variety of hands-on tasks as laboratory needs change.
- Strong observation, communication, organization, and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience with machining, welding, fabrication, advanced electrical work, or similar skilled trades is a plus.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate clearly in English.
EDUCATION
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Technical or Trade School a plus

Expected hourly rate is $40.00 - $45.00.
