Mechanical Engineer (III or IV)

Fluidra’s looking for a Mechanical Engineer (open to level III or IV) to join our team in Carlsbad, CA.

Level (III vs. IV) will be determined based on experience, technical depth and demonstrated scope of impact.

WHAT YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE 

The ideal candidate is an experienced Mechanical Engineer with experience aiding in design, managing, working on and testing consumer products from concept through production. This individual will work as a key member within the Hydraulics engineering team to develop and improve global consumer products, specifically in the pump, filter and valve categories. This position requires strong communication skills cross functionally, and with external manufacturing partners. Key activities include:

  • Be a key member in the development and testing of new technologies and products
  • Work with domestic and overseas suppliers to introduce new products
  • Travel to suppliers as needed to oversee new processes and troubleshoot problems on the fly
  • Support the Quality team to resolve engineering issues that arise
  • Document and execute test plans and engineering changes
  • Analyze part designs using SolidWorks CAD software, engineering principles, FEA software, and prototypes
  • Responsible for managing the new product development process for products, parts and assemblies. Present on development progress regularly
  • Work on product sustaining initiatives to improve existing product performance and reliability
  • Collaborate with engineering teams in other offices globally

In addition, as level IV:

  • Be the project lead from the engineering team and be able to ensure that all issues are communicated (both verbally and written) clearly and succinctly to the project and product management teams
  • Learn and adhere to all Fluidra procedures relating to our NPD process and will offer ways to take new and existing ideas and figure out how to get them to market quickly while maintaining quality standards
  • Work independently to identify product design issues not seen before and implement improvements and testing protocols necessary for ensuring high quality. 

 

WHAT WE SEEK

All levels:

  • Proficient in mechanical design skills using SolidWorks CAD software
  • Experience working with electrical and electronic systems and products
  • Knowledge of hydraulics, motors, pumps and/or water filtration is a plus
  • Experience with regulatory certifications such as UL is a plus
  • Proven track record of accomplished projects with increasing responsibilities
  • Willing and experienced in travelling domestically and overseas as needed to suppliers or field installations

 

 Level III:

  • 5+ years of project and/or mechanical engineering experience focusing on new product development of consumer products or industrial equipment
  • Strong problem solving and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work independently as a team member
  • Good verbal and written communication skills

 

Level IV:

  • 7+ years of project and/or mechanical engineering experience focusing on new product development of consumer products or equipment
  • Proven ownership of complex projects, specifically around new product development
  • Ability to work independently, as a team member and as a team leader
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to clearly explain technical concepts to non-technical team members

 

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related engineering discipline

Expected salary range is $105,000 - $130,000. Fluidra offers a comprehensive total rewards / benefits program that includes base salary, annual bonus based on performance of individual and company objectives, competitive 401K matching, paid vacation and sick time, full range of health benefits, educational assistance, etc. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including skills, qualifications, experience and location.
