
Fluidra is seeking a Production Planner to join our team in West Valley City, UT.
WHAT YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE
The Production Planner owns the finite production schedule and materials plan to achieve on-time delivery (OTD), optimal capacity utilization, and minimal expedite activity. This role converts demand (orders, forecasts, and opportunities) into an executable plan, orchestrates cross-functional handoffs, and proactively communicates risks and recovery plans. The Production Planner is the primary owner for scheduling and inventory shortage identification and supports Customer Service with status updates and Operations with execution. Additionally, you will:
Production Planning Scheduling
- Build and maintain the production schedule across multiple production departments by aligning load with capacity and labor constraints.
- Convert sales orders, forecasts, and backlog into executable work orders or jobs with realistic start/finish dates; sequence jobs to meet promised dates and minimize changeovers.
- Balance short-term expedites with long-term stability; run what-if scenarios for demand/supply changes.
Date Promising & Order Status
- Publish realistic promise dates and reschedules based on capacity and constraints; provide timely updates to Customer Service for customer communication.
- Flag risks proactively (stockout constraints and/or machine(s) down)
- Strong cross-functional communication; capable of translating constraints into clear customer-facing updates via Customer Service
Shop Floor Execution Support
- Release and maintain a clean queue of work orders; monitor WIP aging and bottlenecks; trigger de-expedites when appropriate.
- Partner with Operations Supervisors to level-load shifts/cells and realign schedules after unplanned events.
Data, Systems & Governance
- Maintain accurate scheduling data in ERP/MRP (dates, priorities, statuses); drive discipline in work order start/complete transactions and close-out.
- Support document accuracy by ensuring planning fields reflect the latest MOS/Router and BOM revisions (owned by Process Engineering; Operations final
WHAT WE SEEK
- 2+ years of experience in production planning, scheduling, manufacturing operations, supply chain, or related manufacturing environment preferred.
- Experience required to use ERP/MRP systems in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications required.
- Experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with multiple production lines or departments preferred.
- APICS/CPIM certification or related supply chain/planning certification is a plus.
- Strong understanding of production scheduling, capacity planning, inventory control, and material flow.
- Ability to analyze data and make decisions in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills across all levels of the organization.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining schedule stability and customer commitments.
- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with Operations, Purchasing, Inventory, Engineering, and Customer Service teams.
- Understanding of FIFO principles, OTIF/OTD metrics, and manufacturing workflows.
- Ability to identify risks proactively and escalate issues appropriately.
EDUCATION
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Operations Management, Business, Engineering, or related field preferred.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Employees work under typical office and manufacturing floor conditions:
- Regular exposure to production floor conditions including noise, moving machinery, forklifts, and varying temperatures.
- Must follow all company safety policies and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) when entering production areas.
- Fast-paced environment requiring frequent interaction with multiple departments and shifting production priorities.
