Fluidra’s looking for a Quality Control Manager to join our team in Sparks, MD.

WHAT YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE 

The Quality Control Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Quality Control Laboratory to ensure that raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products meet established quality standards and specifications. This position supervises Quality personnel, coordinates testing activities, maintains laboratory compliance, and supports manufacturing operations through timely and accurate quality evaluations. 

The Quality Control Manager serves as a technical resource for quality-related matters, drives continuous improvement initiatives, investigates quality issues, and promotes a culture of quality, safety, and compliance throughout the organization. Additionally, you will: 

Laboratory Operations and Product Testing 

• Supervise daily laboratory activities, including testing of raw materials, in-process samples, and finished goods. 

• Ensure testing is performed in accordance with approved procedures, specifications, and laboratory methods. 

• Review and approve test results and quality documentation for accuracy and completeness. 

• Manage laboratory workflow and testing priorities to support production schedules and customer requirements. 

• Ensure laboratory equipment is properly maintained, calibrated, and functioning effectively. 

• Maintain laboratory inventory of chemicals, reagents, standards, and supplies. 

Quality Assurance and Compliance 

• Ensure compliance with company quality standards, regulatory requirements, and laboratory procedures. 

• Support internal audits, customer audits, and regulatory inspections as required. 

• Maintain accurate laboratory records and documentation in accordance with company policies. 

• Assist in the development, review, and revision of standard operating procedures (SOPs), testing methods, and quality documentation. 

• Monitor quality metrics and prepare reports on laboratory performance and product quality trends. 

Team Leadership and Development 

• Supervise, coach, and develop Quality personnel. 

• Assign work, establish priorities, and ensure effective utilization of resources. 

• Conduct employee training, performance evaluations, and ongoing development activities. 

• Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement. 

• Participate in recruiting, onboarding, and employee disciplinary processes as needed. 

Quality Investigations and Continuous Improvement 

• Investigate out-of-specification (OOS) results, nonconforming materials, and customer quality concerns. 

• Lead root cause analysis activities and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA). 

• Collaborate with Production, Supply Chain, Research & Development, and other departments to resolve quality issues. 

• Identify opportunities to improve laboratory efficiency, testing accuracy, and overall product quality. 

• Support new product introductions, process improvements, and validation activities. 

Safety and Environmental Compliance 

• Promote and enforce compliance with all safety policies, procedures, and environmental regulations. 

• Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of chemicals and laboratory waste. 

• Participate in safety audits, inspections, and corrective action initiatives. 

WHAT WE SEEK

• 5+ years of experience in quality control, laboratory operations, or manufacturing quality environments. 

• 3+ years of management, supervisory, or lead experience preferred. 

• Experience within chemical manufacturing, water treatment products, consumer products, or related industries preferred. 

• Demonstrated experience investigating quality issues and implementing corrective actions. 

• Experience working with laboratory instrumentation, analytical testing methods, and quality systems. 

Skills & Competencies: 

• Strong knowledge of quality control principles, laboratory practices, and analytical testing techniques. 

• Working knowledge of statistical analysis and quality improvement methodologies. 

• Ability to interpret specifications, procedures, and technical data. 

• Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills. 

• Effective leadership and employee development capabilities. 

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 

• Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities. 

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and quality management software systems. 

• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. 

• High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. 

EDUCATION

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biology, or a related scientific discipline required. 
• Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.

Expected salary range is $100,000 - $120,000. Fluidra offers a comprehensive total rewards / benefits program that includes base salary, annual bonus based on performance of individual and company objectives, competitive 401K matching, paid vacation and sick time, full range of health benefits, educational assistance, etc. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including skills, qualifications, experience and location.
