Purpose of the Role
The SAP Platform / BASIS Manager owns the technical foundation, availability, performance and lifecycle of Fluidra's SAP landscape. Operating within the IT organization, the role ensures the platform runs reliably and remains upgrade-stable under a Clean Core and Compliant Core approach, providing a solid technical base for functional, development and analytics teams.
The manager is accountable for day-to-day SAP platform operations across the landscape below and for the RISE Private Cloud shared-responsibility relationship with SAP and hosting partners.
SAP Landscape in Scope
- SAP S/4HANA (RISE, Private Cloud Edition) with SAP Master Data Governance (MDG) embedded.
- SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP).
- SAP SuccessFactors.
- SAP Business Data Cloud, including Datasphere and SAP analytics.
- SAP Cloud ALM for operations and application lifecycle management.
- Clean Core and Compliant Core principles as the guiding operating model.
Key Responsibilities
- Platform operations: Own the technical health, availability and performance of the SAP landscape — system operations, patching, upgrades, transports and HANA administration.
- RISE management: Manage the RISE Private Cloud relationship and the shared-responsibility model with SAP and the hosting/hyperscaler partner, ensuring SLAs and service quality are met.
- Clean / Compliant Core: Safeguard Clean Core and Compliant Core adherence — govern extensions on BTP, minimise core modifications and keep the system upgrade-stable.
- Cross-landscape operations: Oversee operations across S/4HANA (with embedded MDG), BTP, SuccessFactors and Business Data Cloud / Datasphere, coordinating with functional, development, security and integration teams.
- Monitoring & lifecycle: Drive system monitoring, performance tuning, capacity planning and lifecycle management using SAP Cloud ALM.
- Team & vendors: Lead and develop one direct report (SAP Platform Analyst); as the platform scales, take on management of external managed-service providers and vendors.
- Security & compliance: Ensure platform security, authorisations and compliance in line with company policy, working closely with the SAP Security team.
- Vendor & license coordination: Manage SAP licensing, technical vendor coordination and platform-related cost control.
Required Experience & Skills
- 10+ years of IT experience, including 5+ years in SAP BASIS / platform administration and operations.
- Hands-on experience operating SAP S/4HANA and HANA, ideally in a RISE Private Cloud environment.
- Experience with SAP BTP and SAP Cloud ALM.
- Solid understanding of Clean Core / Compliant Core principles and upgrade-stable extension strategies.
- Knowledge of the SAP shared-responsibility model and hyperscaler-hosted operations.
- Experience managing a small team and/or external managed-service providers.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical and communication skills; comfortable working with technical teams and business stakeholders.
- Fluent English and Spanish.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with SAP MDG, SuccessFactors and Datasphere / Business Data Cloud operations.
- SAP certifications in NetWeaver / BASIS, S/4HANA system administration or BTP.
- Exposure to ITIL-based service management and stage-gated delivery governance.
