About the role

 

We are looking for a Senior External Communication Specialist to join our Corporate Communication & Public Affairs team. This role will help strengthen the company’s external positioning, reputation, and visibility among key stakeholders, with a particular focus on media relations, corporate storytelling, executive communications, digital channels, and strategic communication planning.

The ideal candidate is a strong communicator with 7 to 10 years of experience in corporate communications, external communications, media relations, PR, or public affairs, preferably in a corporate environment, listed company, multinational, consultancy, or highly visible organization. The role requires excellent writing skills, strong judgement, a good understanding of the Spanish media landscape, and the ability to work in both Spanish and English. It also requires strong interpersonal skills, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to build trust-based relationships across teams, functions, countries, and seniority levels.

 

Key responsibilities

 

External communication and media relations
Develop and maintain strong relationships with national, business, financial, trade, and sector-specific media. Identify opportunities to position the company, its leadership, its strategy, and its key initiatives externally.

Strategic communication planning
Support the design and execution of external communication plans aligned with business priorities, corporate reputation objectives, financial calendar, sustainability agenda, innovation, people, and public affairs priorities.

Content creation and storytelling
Write and edit high-quality content for external audiences, including press releases, media statements, Q&As, briefing notes, opinion pieces, speeches, corporate presentations, website copy, LinkedIn posts, and executive communication materials.

Reputation and issues management
Monitor external conversations, media coverage, and reputational risks. Support the preparation of messaging, reactive statements, Q&As, and communication materials for sensitive issues or high-visibility topics.

Digital and social media communication
Contribute to the company’s corporate digital presence, especially LinkedIn and other relevant social media channels. Adapt corporate messages to digital formats and work with internal or external partners to develop engaging content.

Executive and stakeholder support
Prepare communication materials for senior leaders, including media briefings, speaking points, interviews, event participation, and public positioning opportunities.

Measurement and reporting
Monitor media and digital performance, prepare reports, track KPIs, and extract insights to continuously improve the effectiveness of external communication activities.

Agency and project coordination
Coordinate with communication agencies, designers, digital partners, and internal teams to ensure high-quality execution of communication campaigns and materials.

 

Candidate profile

 

We are looking for someone with:

  • 7 to 10 years of experience in external communication, corporate communication, media relations, PR, public affairs, or journalism.
  • Strong knowledge of the Spanish media landscape, including business, financial, corporate, general, and sector-specific media.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills in Spanish and English.
  • Full professional proficiency in Spanish and English; additional languages are a plus.
  • Experience developing and executing strategic communication plans.
  • Strong understanding of social media channels, especially LinkedIn, and how to adapt corporate messages for digital audiences.
  • Good digital skills, including experience with media monitoring tools, social media analytics, content management platforms, or digital communication tools.
  • Ability to translate complex business topics into clear, compelling messages.
  • Sound judgement, discretion, and ability to work with confidential or sensitive information.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Collaborative mindset and ability to work across functions, countries, and seniority levels.
  • Previous experience in a listed company, multinational, regulated sector, consultancy, agency, or media environment will be highly valued.

 

Education

Degree in Journalism, Communication, Public Relations, Political Science, Business, Marketing, International Relations, or a related field.
