Fluidra’s looking for an Environmental, Health & Safety Specialist to join our team in Sparks, MD!

 

WHAT YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE 

The Environmental, Health & Safety Specialist (EHS) Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive safety programs across all areas of Taylor Water Technologies operations, including production, laboratory, warehouse, and administrative environments. This role ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations while fostering a proactive safety culture. The EHS Specialist will leverage a strong chemistry background to effectively manage chemical safety, hazard communication, and regulatory requirements specific to the organization’s products and processes. Additionally, you will: 

  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve site-wide safety policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory standards, including chemical handling, storage, and disposal requirements.
  • Lead hazard assessments, job safety analyses (JSAs), and risk mitigation initiatives across all departments.
  • Oversee chemical safety programs, including Safety Data Sheets (SDS) management, labeling, and employee training.
  • Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and incident investigations; identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for safety-related concerns on and off the production floor.
  • Develop and deliver safety training programs, including new hire orientation, emergency response, and ongoing compliance training.
  • Monitor and report key safety metrics; drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce incidents and improve safety performance.
  • Collaborate with production, quality, maintenance, and leadership teams to integrate safety into all operational processes.
  • Manage emergency preparedness programs, including evacuation plans, drills, and coordination with local emergency responders.
  • Support workers’ compensation processes, including incident documentation and return-to-work coordination.
  • Maintain accurate safety records and documentation in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Stay current with changes in safety regulations and industry best practices, particularly those related to chemical manufacturing.

 

WHAT WE SEEK

  • Proven experience in environmental health and safety (EHS) within a manufacturing or chemical-related environment.
  • Strong understanding of OSHA regulations, hazard communication standards, and chemical safety requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead safety initiatives and influence a positive safety culture.
  • Experience conducting incident investigations and implementing corrective actions.
  • Ability to analyze data and trends to drive safety improvements
  • In-depth knowledge of chemical safety principles and hazard analysis.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and training facilitation abilities.
  • High attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and influence at all levels of the organization.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and safety management systems.
  • Strong decision-making and judgment in high-risk situations.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Health & Safety, or a related field required.
  • Professional certifications (e.g., CSP, ASP, CIH) preferred.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to walk, stand, and move throughout production and warehouse areas for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators, safety glasses, gloves, and protective clothing.
  • Ability to respond to emergency situations as needed.

Expected salary range is $70,000 - $85,000. Fluidra offers a comprehensive total rewards / benefits program that includes base salary, annual bonus based on performance of individual and company objectives, competitive 401K matching, paid vacation and sick time, full range of health benefits, educational assistance, etc. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including skills, qualifications, experience and location.
